Post-race festival at Bronte Harbour Classic — Fortinos Burlington fuels every finisher on Father's Day
by Greg Kowalczyk announcement sponsors food community burlington

Fortinos Burlington Is the Official Food Partner of the Bronte Harbour Classic

Fortinos Burlington is the Official Food Partner of the inaugural Bronte Harbour Classic 5K Race & Father’s Day Waterfront Festival — taking place Sunday, June 21, 2026 at Bronte Harbour Park, Oakville.

Every finisher who crosses the line on Father’s Day will be fuelled by Fortinos: fresh bananas, granola bars, juice boxes, and more — waiting for you at the finish chute before you head into the festival.

Who Is Fortinos?

If you’re from Burlington or Oakville, you already know Fortinos. It’s been a cornerstone of GTA grocery for over 60 years — founded in 1961 by John Fortino, an Italian immigrant who built the brand on one idea: quality food, local community, full stop.

The Burlington location on New Street at Appleby serves the Longmoor, Elizabeth Gardens, and Appleby neighbourhood communities. It’s a 5-minute drive from Bronte Harbour Park — close enough that many of the runners showing up on race morning likely grabbed their pre-race pasta or their morning coffee from that same store the night before.

Fortinos operates under Loblaw, but it doesn’t feel like a corporate chain. The Burlington franchise has a track record of local community involvement — from food bank drives to school nutrition programs. When they agreed to partner with the Bronte Harbour Classic, it didn’t feel like a sponsorship transaction. It felt like a neighbour saying yes.

What Fuelling Finishers Actually Means

Post-race nutrition isn’t optional — it’s recovery.

After a 5K at race pace, your glycogen is partially depleted and your muscles need protein to start repairing. Sports science is pretty clear: you want 25–30 grams of carbohydrates and at least 6 grams of protein within 30 minutes of crossing the finish line. That window matters.

Bananas. Granola bars. Juice boxes. These aren’t random snacks — they’re exactly what a race nutritionist would hand you. Fortinos is providing that at the finish line, for every single finisher.

And for the parents pushing strollers? The families cheering from the sidelines? The kids who just finished the 1K Fun Run clutching their finisher medal? There’s food for them too. This is a Father’s Day festival, not just a race. Fortinos is feeding the whole morning.

A Burlington Brand Supporting an Oakville Race

The Bronte Harbour Classic is centred on Oakville, but the community it draws from is broader — Burlington, Mississauga, Hamilton, the whole west end of the GTA. The Fortinos Burlington team understood that from the start.

This is the first running event in Halton Region to have a named Official Food Partner from a major grocery brand. That’s not a small thing. It means every finisher gets real food — not a handful of crackers in a plastic bag — and it means the post-race festival has the kind of presence that makes families want to stay, eat, and enjoy the day.

Race day is June 21st. After the start gun fires at 8:00 AM and the course runs out along the Bronte waterfront and back, the food table will be waiting. Fortinos makes sure of that.
