Set up at the Father's Day Waterfront Festival vendor market on race day, sharing information about their free programs and services for women in Halton.
The Women’s Centre of Halton is an Oakville-based registered charity that has been supporting women in crisis, distress, or transition since 1989, when it was established to help women transitioning out of shelters. More than three decades later, it remains what its own community describes it as: a safe, non-judgmental place for women to learn, grow, and get support — often the first place a woman comes when she’s searching for a fresh start.
The Centre’s “women supporting women” model covers an impressive range, all of it free: peer support in person and by phone, mental health counselling, a volunteer-lawyer legal clinic, family court advocacy, employment coaching, a technology lending library, and workshops on everything from self-esteem to family law. Services are open to all self-identified women across the Halton region.
At the 2026 Mercedes-Benz Oakville Bronte Harbour Classic 5K, the Centre joined the Father’s Day Waterfront Festival vendor market — one of the community organizations that make a hometown race feel like more than a run.
Why we love having them at the Classic
Community organizations like this are why a local race matters beyond the finish line. The Women's Centre of Halton has spent over 35 years quietly helping women across our region find a fresh start — we were proud to give them a table on the waterfront.
