Most races end at the finish line. Runners cross, grab a banana, walk back to their car.
June 21 at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park is built differently.
The Mercedes-Benz Oakville Bronte Harbour Classic launches an all-day Father’s Day Waterfront Festival the moment the race begins — free admission, open to everyone, running from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Whether you’re racing the 5K, cheering someone across the finish line, or just showing up for the harbour, there’s a full day waiting.
Here’s what’s there.

The Setting: Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park
Before we get into what’s at the festival, the location matters.
Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park sits at the mouth of Twelve Mile Creek, where it empties into Lake Ontario. The Bronte lighthouse is to your right. The marina is to your left. The waterfront path runs between them.
It’s one of the genuinely beautiful public spaces in the GTA. On a clear June morning, there’s nowhere in Oakville you’d rather be.
The festival occupies the park’s open green — the same space the race finishes through. By 8 AM, the vendor tents are up, the stage is live, and the Kids 1K is already underway. By 9:30 AM, nearly 400 5K runners have crossed the finish line and the whole thing shifts into full festival gear.
The Beer Garden: Nickelbrook Brewing Company
Nickelbrook Brewing Company is setting up a dedicated beer garden on the festival grounds.
They’re a Burlington brewery with serious credentials — one of the first craft breweries in the region, known for clean lagers, well-made IPAs, and ready-to-drinks that hold up to the occasion. The beer garden opens at 10:30 AM and runs through the full festival, so you can celebrate your finish with a cold pour by mid-morning or settle in for an afternoon RTD at 2 PM.
The beer garden is for adults 19+. Expect cold pours, outdoor seating, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you in no hurry to leave.
If your post-race plan is a cold one with your crew at the harbour, this is exactly the setup for that.
The Food: Fortinos Burlington
Fortinos Burlington is the Official Food Partner of the Bronte Harbour Classic.
They’re handling food programming on the festival grounds — expect fresh, quality options that go beyond the typical race-day snack table. Fortinos is a full grocery operation with a catering and prepared foods division, and they’re bringing that calibre to the waterfront.
Whether you’re carb-loading after a 5K or feeding the kids before the Kids 1K, there’s food worth staying for.
Live Music on the Waterfront
The stage goes up early and music kicks off at 10:30 AM — right as the prize presentations wrap and the full festival hits its stride.
Live music runs from 10:30 AM through to the 3 PM close. The lineup will be announced closer to race day. What we can tell you: it’s outdoor, waterfront, and timed to match the energy of an 800-person Father’s Day morning.
If you’re the kind of person who thinks a race should have a proper soundtrack, this is it.
50+ Local Vendors
The festival market has over 50 vendor booths — artisan, wellness, running gear, lifestyle, and local food brands.
This isn’t a generic expo. We curated vendors who fit the community: Oakville and Halton-area businesses, running and outdoor lifestyle brands, and makers worth discovering. Applications are still open if you’re a vendor interested in the market — see vendor information.
For attendees: plan to browse. The market runs all day, so there’s no rush.
The Kids Zone
The kids zone opens at approximately 9:30 AM — right as the race wraps and families start gathering — and runs until 3 PM.
Activities are designed for the full age range: little ones who just finished cheering for dad at the finish line, and older kids who want to keep the energy going after their own Kids 1K. Speaking of which:
The Speak Squad Kids 1K Fun Run
At 8:00 AM — simultaneous with the festival opening — the Speak Squad Kids 1K Fun Run kicks off the morning on the festival grounds.
A 1-kilometre course. Their own start line. Their own finish line. Their own crowd of cheering parents and family members. If your child has ever watched runners and wanted to know what it feels like to be one, this is the morning.
Speak Squad — the Official Kids 1K Sponsor — believes in giving young people the confidence to find their voice and their stride. The Kids 1K is their event within our event, and it’s built for that purpose.

The Awards Ceremony
At approximately 9:30 AM, after the 5K finishers have crossed, the awards ceremony takes the stage.
Top finishers in men’s and women’s open collect their cash — $450, $250, and $100 per gender, for a $1,600 prize purse split evenly across the sexes. ON Running performance shoes go to the top open finishers and the top masters (35+) man and woman.
Podium medals — gold, silver, bronze — go to the top three in each category.
The ceremony is quick, on-site, and worth sticking around for even if you’re not racing. The moment a runner who put in months of training collects a cash prize at a community 5K is one of those scenes that reminds you why racing exists.
Watching the Race as a Spectator
You don’t need to run to have a great morning.
The race course is viewable from the festival grounds. The Kids 1K starts at 8:00 AM — watch the young runners go first. Then the 5K gets underway at 8:30 AM, with runners crossing the finish line from roughly 8:45 AM through 9:45 AM.
The awards ceremony starts around 9:30 AM on the festival grounds and runs until approximately 10:15 AM. Live music follows at 10:30 AM — along with the beer garden opening. And at 11:30 AM, the Mercedes-Benz Grand Prize Draw takes the main stage — you must be present to win.
If you’re coming as a family — one person racing, everyone else supporting — this is genuinely a full-day plan, not a three-hour obligation.
The Mercedes-Benz Grand Prize Draw
At 11:30 AM, the main stage hosts the Mercedes-Benz Grand Prize Draw — one of the biggest moments of the entire festival.
Mercedes-Benz Oakville is the title sponsor of the Bronte Harbour Classic, and at 11:30 AM they’re drawing a grand prize on stage in front of the full festival crowd.
You must be present to win. This is not a mail-in draw. If your name is called and you’re not there, you don’t collect. It’s a deliberate reason to stay — and it works. Plan your day around the 11:30 AM draw.
The Charity: Oakville Dads Community Fund
All donations collected at the Bronte Harbour Classic go directly to the Oakville Dads Community Fund — a Halton Region charity supporting local families through sports, education, and community programming.
The festival matters beyond entertainment. It’s the gathering that funds something real in this community.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to pay to attend the festival?
No. The Bronte Harbour Classic Festival is free and open to everyone with no registration required. Come for the whole day or just part of it.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs on leash are welcome in the park and on festival grounds. The race course itself will have limited pet access during active racing (8–9 AM), but the festival grounds are dog-friendly.
What time should I arrive to see the race finish?
The first 5K finishers typically cross between 8:17 and 8:25 AM depending on the field. If you want to catch the leaders, arrive before 8:15 AM. The bulk of finishers will be crossing from about 8:25 to 9:00 AM.
Is the Kids 1K a separate registration?
Yes — the Speak Squad Kids 1K Fun Run is registered through Race Roster separately from the adult 5K. Register here.
Is there covered seating at the festival?
Vendor tent areas and beer garden provide some cover. It’s an outdoor festival on the waterfront, so dress for the weather. The June 21 Oakville average forecast is typically warm and partly cloudy — a good running and festival day.
What if I want to become a vendor at the festival?
Vendor applications are open. See vendor information here.
